I am currently looking at Scribefire

Tonight I am looking at ScribeFire, a Mozzilla FireFox add on that hopefully may end my blogging software woes.
My website uses a moveabletype-api to allow me to drop articles on to the site.  This offers huge advantages for me when composing articles.  I don't have to rely on the websites own article editor in order to post articles.  I don't have to be online the whole time that I am writing.  I dont have to worry about network timeouts that lose me my half finished article.
I have looked at some of the other editors capable of doing this task and have had limited success. More disapointing has been just how basic these writers have been.
If this article posts successfully with images attached, then I will be a truly happy blogger.  Although not quite as well featured as my favourite Windows Live Writer, ScribeFire is not too far off of the mark.
It includes some advanced editing features as well as basic image handling like being able to wrap text around an image at the touch of a button.
Bullet points, numbered lists and quoter are also included and are edited in a graphical form.  Justification of text is included also.
One small disapointment is that text formatting is limited to some chosen fonts rather than text types such as normal H1, H2 etc.
Aside from these features ScribeFire includes the option to insert youtube videos into your articles.  It also includes a spell checker and other tools to boot.

Editing in this is a dream compared to the other blogging tools that I have tried so far so I am waiting with baited breath to see if it plays nice with my websites.

Well, it looks like it uploaded the image Ok for you. I googled a bit and found Thingamablog billed as being the most feature rich blogging helper:

thingamablog.sourceforge.net/

It doesn't have a .deb file but I downloaded the .zip file for linux. If you extract it, then navigate into the newly created folder and run the command:

java -jar thingamablog.jar

It should start up for you so you can have a look at it. I use the Nautilus add-on nautilus-open-terminal so that I just right-click when I'm in a folder and it opens the terminal there. I'm sure there's a way to set up a menu shortcut or something if you want to use Thingamablog. Hopefully you have all the java bits you need already installed.

Making a starter is as easy as:

1. Open a text editor (GEdit for example)
2. Type in:

Code:

#!/bin/bash

java -jar /path/to/thingamablog.jar  # replace the path to where your thingamablog.jar is

3. Save it whereever you want as thingamablog.sh
4. Right click on it, select "Properties", change to the "Permissions" tab and check “Allow executing file as program”.

Hi does thingamablog do moveabletype entries? I was looking at the documentation for it and as far as I could gather it uploaded static pages. Did I miss something?

Other than that it does look very good...
