Rather bizarrely, I am currently blogging whilst installing an operating system on my laptop!

I managed to fix up the failed backup of my files and reboot the system using a live disk. I have run the install software and chose to install to my full disk. What amazes me is how quick the install is taking.

You can possibly guess which package I have gone for, but I will give a bit more detail on the why, what, and how once I am fully up and running...

Hi Blair,
Now it's getting interesting as I follow your steps. I have followed the same ones in the recent past, and is that Ubuntu I see there? If I, a total amateur got Ubuntu NBR up and running on my 901 and then after three months trial, ditched Xandros and installed it, I should think you must be finding it easy. Anyway, I'm eagerly waiting to see how you get on...

Hi and thanks for tuning in.

It has been relatively easy so far, the only real issues have been non linux related.

The gremlins have been busy round here, Other bloggers seem to have had some non linux issues as well that they will no doubt tell you about soon.

So its Ubuntu! Good choice, best community support EVER. Like it was MADE for netbooks - as you can see internet access is preconfigured very well.
